I didn't want to dish out the big bucks to buy floor length curtains for our bedroom so I decided I would just make them better and cheeper myself!
First I waited for a 40% off coupon to Joanns to come in the sunday ad's. And found some upholstery fabric in the color I wanted, I only needed 3 curtain panels because of how our windows are so I got 9 yards and an extra yard to make throw pillows for the bed. At $2 a yard this cost me $20 bucks.
The fabric I got was sheer and I wanted to block out a little more light so I needed some cheep fabric to back my curtains. SO I went and got flat sheets from Ikea that were the same general color as my curtain fabric for $4 a sheet. Total $12.
I trimmed the curtains to be the same size of the curtains and finished the bottom and side edges on both. Do this by ironing down the edge and then double it over and sew it down. It doesn't have to be perfect you wont be able to tell.
I finished these off by sewing the wrong sides together at the top so you can flip it and have a finished top. I didn't want to bother with rod pockets or grommets so I just picked up some curtain clips at Hobby Lobby to hang the curtains with, a couple bucks for 12 rings.
All in all I spent about $40 bucks for three panels, when I would have cost me upwards $100 bucks to buy them at the store. My finished curtains measured approximately 55' by 100' inches, hard to find at the store! It was a challenge to measure, cut and sew all that fabric but I think I did pretty good for my first big sewing projects.
Next up a Duvet cover for our down comforter!

LOVE blocks!
So after looking at the poll hopefully everyone had a chance to do, it has been decided.....We will be doing the LOVE blocks. I went ahead and made mine so that everyone could see what they will look like ( I have not had time to de-stress these at all so there not completely finished ).
Also it seems like for the most part saturday late morning works best. So I have decided that we will be doing this on the 30th from 10-12, you can come anytime in those hours! Please leave a comment or send me an email (Michelle.a.Conover@gmail.com), or text and let me know if you are coming so that I can prepare everything. The Love blocks will cost $5 and you will need to bring the money the day of the craft!

Ok so I slacked off! Here is to make up for it!
I slacked off in December, I underestimated how much time work and school and christmas season takes out of you! But plans are in the works for a January craft, so stay posted!
In the mean time I will post something that I made this last month that everyone can do on there own if you feel the crafty bug hit you one day.
Homemade Apothecary Jars- these are great because you can change whats in them to coordinate with the holidays or seasons!
I got everything at Hobby Lobby (my new favorite place!) Here is what you need.
3 unfinished wood candle stick bottoms. About $1 each
3 unfinished wood craft circles. $0.50 each
Black craft paint
Candy jars ( I got three different sizes, but thats up to you). Ranged from $2-$4 depending on size.
Glue
Glue the candle sticks to the craft circles and let dry. After they have dried compleatly paint them black, I did two coats and then distressed them with sandpaper when they had dried. Then you need some heavy duty glue to glue the jars to the candle sticks and your done. Im debating about spray painting the jar lids black but because its been to cold outside I have not gotten around to doing so and now I kinda like them silver. I have also seen where someone has covered the tops with twine, so you can make it your own.
And then the best part is filling them! You can see from my picture for christmas I filled mine with fake snow and ball ornaments! I love these they are great! I cant wait to change up the inside of them for valentines day!
Have fun, and if any one has any questions feel free to post them and I will help as I can.

Welcome!
Hi girls I have finally found the time to put this blog together! This is how I am hoping it will work. I will put up a poll to find out when the best time for us girls to get together and do a craft and then I will decide on a date for a girls craft day! I will post a few ideas of what we can do and apoximatly how much it will cost for the project and let everyone vote on what they want to do, the one with the most votes wins! Some of the crafts will have supplies that you will need to get (so that you can pick our picture frames or colors that you like for your house) and the rest I will get and then just have everyone pay for the day of. After the craft day I am going to post a tutorial for how to make the craft so that anyone that could not attend can still enjoy or so that you can know how to make it again in the future if you want!
The more the merrier so if you know any girls that would like to come and have some fun and make cute crafts feel free to invite them! And also if anyone has any ideas on what they would like to do or has seen a decorative item they would like me to see if we can copy for less feel free to shoot an email my way!
So here is the first poll....To kind of get an idea what times work best for everyone to get together for a craft on the side bar answer the poll and then I will try to pick a day that generally works best for most the group!
Also if you do decide you want to follow the blog....please, please, please at the top of the screen click the button that says follow and then select the option that says follow publicly, just so I know those who are reading and want to participate!
Thanks, I look forward to lots of fun!
